Gabriel's Whaf

Situated next to the London Studios, and just up river from the Oxo Tower, Gabriel’s Wharf is only a short walk from the London Eye.  This potentially very touristy area still offers a feel of discovery to the visitor and is quite popular with locals.  Consequently it is worth a visit, especially as a place to stop for a while and soak up the ambiance.  There are plenty of open tables and seating to enjoy your food or drink at.  It is also a good place to rent a bike if you want to go for a ride in the area, or take a bike tour.

History:  This wharf area on the southbank of the Thames was originally old garages – now with shop fronts making them excellent design studios.  This redevelopment was completed by Coin Street Community Builders in 1988.  The success of the project led to the further development of the Oxo Tower, which perhaps is now better known to the casual visitor.

On site businesses:  A full list of businesses and restaurants can be found at the Wharf’s website .  Restaurants include Sarni’s, Studio Six and the Wharf (great views).  Most of the shopping would be considered artsy, boutique-style retailers, offering everything from art, to housewares, to jewellery.
